Son's Attitude
It's been awhile since I have been on, my son who had a very bad stroke at age 38, now 42, was so physically fit, hard to believe that this has changed our lives, especially his. We have been through about anything and everything. I am one of those mothers who won't sit by and not try anything to help her child. He has gone from the dr. telling us that he would not make it after 4 days ICU and crainotomy, trach, stomach tube, not speaking, walking, etc. to being a wonderful example and inspiration to so many people. He never gave up. In this picture he is receiving an award for his courage and strength at a convention of a group that I belong to and they had adopted him per say. He also has become baptized in our church and they have adopted him also, he now helps to feed the homeless every other month. He still has many obstacles to overcome, has left side paralysis, but can move his leg, arm very little. We are now going to try and have reconstructive surgery on foot to help his balance. He walks with a quad cane but still balance is an issue. We are going on 4 years post stroke and if I can say one thing to any of you wondering if you will get better, then be like my son and never say never. My son does have a wife and daughter and needless to say their life has changed drastically also. One of his famous sayings now is not "if" but "when". He is loving, funny, sometimes cranky and so am I, but he is here!
