Thankful I didn't blow us all up for Thanksgiving :)
Today was Thanksgiving Day in the US, and I'd like to say how thankful I am that I didn't blow us all up! Today was the day I decided to awaken the sleeping Crackin (boiler). With tomorrow comes the highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s, it has to be cold enough to light it, because it requires a draft pipe to feed air to it so you don't aphixiate, and so it needs to be cold enough that the boiler runs hard enough that the draft is eaten up with the immense heat of it, or the draft will freeze you! Something like this should only have been installed in a basement, as drafts wouldn't matter so much, as a draft tearing right by the couch, as it does. When it does run full blast, it is like a fireplace/pot belly stove, really intense heat.
Anyway, so I read the list of steps to turn things off and to light it and did the deed. Then went to turn the breaker back on, and turn up the thermostat. I then came back to see if it had started up... good thing... when the plumbing valves had stuck last year, I'd sprayed them with WD40 oil lubricant, and there sat the oil can, on top of the boiler. Boy did my eyes bug out when they landed on it! I could just see the boiler starting up and getting to that high temperature and exploding that can, and wrecking the propane line and blowing it and it's tank source up, too. Oh my, for the lack of a glance, we'd all be splattered by now... so thankful.
I have been unable to write lately because of our 2 and 3 appts a day. We are trying to use as many of our 60 therapies a year, before the end of the year, when we lose them. I have FINALLY received some info on my husbands health history, that I'll share later, in a different post.
