54th Birthday Celebration
Hello:
Well, my 54th birthday celebration is 'in the books'. My sweet, adorable, compassionate, beautiful wife took me out for dinner, on Tuesday evening, August 2.
About 16 miles from where I live is a place called Shady Maple Smorgasbord. On your birthday, they 'give' you a FREE meal. They have a breakfast, a lunch or a dinner smorgasbord. The dinner smorgasbord is a 'special' each night. Tuesday's special is Assorted Seafood. We could choose from: steamed clams, steamed mussels, peel-'n-eat shrimp (hot or cold), cajun catfish, salmon, tilapia, haddock, crab cakes, 'battered' shrimp, seafood alfredo, oyster stew, clam strips, sea scallops, crab-stuffed mushrooms, PLUS you could get mashed potatoes, sliced ham, sauerkraut, pork, french fries, several choices of vegetables. There were 8 varieties of homemade rolls and breads. Desserts were a wide choice - 10 cold desserts, 3 hot desserts, 8 pie choices, 6 cake choices, plus a make-your-own-sundae-bar. Plus a wide variety of beverages. Total price - $19.94 with tax.
However, the evening wasn't without incidence. I use a cane, when I walk long distance, or if it will be an event that involves 'groups' of people. I had to go to the restroom. I opened the restroom door, using my cane 'to hold' the door open. Iwalked in and took four steps. SPLAT !!!!!!!!!! I go 'crashing' to the floor. Four 'dimwits' just looked at me, and side-stepped me, before leaving the area. Three gentlemen 'helped' me up, and another gentleman 'showed' me something and said "Does this belong to you"? Here, when I 'used' my cane to 'hold' the door open, my cane stopper came off, making my cane 'skidable'. I survived, and yes, I made it to the 'throne' without an 'accident'. And no, I wasn't hurt. I was smart enough to 'fall on my left side, which is numb and has no feeling.
Oh to have a 'memorable 54th birthday. But one thing good came from this experience ................................
I could write a 'blog' and get me off of page 2.
