walkaide system
well i have been waiting for weeks to try the walkaide system to help me walk better with my drop foot. the therapist was very knowledgeable about her product and i was encouraged in hopes it would help me. after she got my brace, shoes and sock off, she hooked me up and boy did it get my legs attention. after she put the leads in the proper area to stimulate the nerve thats tells your foot to pick up and put down. my foot was awake now, my toes curled under but she didn't get the response she wanted in my ankle. it appears i have to much tone in my ankle for my foot to lift and walk properly, also my knee on that leg doesn't always bend like it should. she was hoping i would be able to walk without my afo, that got my attention in a hurry. i knew i would be down in a matter of nanoseconds. the unit feels like pins and needles when you feel the impulses through the leads. it would be tolerable once you got used to it. but i wasn't a good candidate at this time due to my ankle, so now i need to see my neuro and have him address the tone issue, then proceed back to therapy for awhile. the system is alittle pricey but cheaper than the bioness system for drop foot. i was disappointed but i hopefully can work on the ankle issues and go from there. tonya my dtr n law came through surgery just fine and recouped for 3 days, then back to work. i also gave the therapist, steves name to contact him about advertising here so maybe others will get a chance to try it out. i think i remember kirby stating in her post how it helped her to walk better after her stroke so she could return to work. so thats my news since my last blog. i hope everyone is enjoying watching their teams this season. HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS, HUH. i hope everyone has a great thanksgiving coming up and remember to eat as much as you can,lol then get ready to nap or watch games. ENJOY THE HOLIDAY.
