A THANKSGIVING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

BESIDES STILL BEING AROUND THE UNIVERSE, I CAN LOOK FORWARD TO ANOTHER HOLIDAY. THIS YEAR OUR DAUGHTER AND FAMILY ARE HOSTING THE FESTIVITIES THURSDAY. MY SON-IN-LAW'S PARENTS WILL BE THERE AND HIS SISTER AND FAMILY ARE COMING FOR DESSERT ONLY. THIS IS GOOD NEWS BECAUSE TIME WITH HER UNRULY KIDS WILL BE LIMITED. LAST TIME WE HAD DINNER IN THEIR PRESENCE, THE EIGHT YEAR OLD DRANK ENOUGH WINE TO NEED A DESIGNATED DRIVER. BUT THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM.

I'M THE DESIGNATED TURKEY CARVER WHEREVER I GO FOR THE HOLIDAY. THIS IS FINE BUT I'M SO FULL FROM NIBBLING WHILE CARVING, I SKIP MOST OF THE TURKEY DURING DINNER. AFTER ALL, I MUST MAKE SURE THE BIRD IS WELL COOKED, MOIST AND TENDER. BESIDES, I LIKE THE SIDE DISHES AND DESSERT MORE.

MT WIFE, AT THE REQUEST OF THE GRANDKIDS, PROMISED WE WOULD STAY OVER THURSDAY NIGHT. THIS MEANS SLEEPING ON THE SOFA BED IN THE LOWER LEVEL FAMILY ROOM WITH THE KIDS AND A COCKER SPANIEL SNUGGLED UP WITH ME. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE DOG REALLY LIKES ME. THE HOUSE IS EIGHTY YEARS OLD AND NICE, EXCEPT FOR THE D ADDED-ON LOWER LEVEL BASEMENT. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHICH WAY YOU ARE ENTERING THE ROOM BECAUSE TURNING SPACE IS LIMITED.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD WE WILL NOT GO SHOPPING FRIDAY, BUT I KNOW THIS PROMISE WILL GO BYE=BYE. OH WELL, I'M JUST HAPPY TO BE ANYWHERE.

BEST WISHES TO ALL FOR A HAPPY AND SAFE HOLIDAY

MARTY

Marty,

Are you really thinking of going shopping the day after Thanksgiving? That is the worse day to go shopping. I tried it once (I believe it was 1968) and immediately decided never again. And I was young and agile then. It would be a nightmare for most stroke survivors.

Personally I do most of my Christmas shopping online and avoid crowds at all times.

We thought we had avoided the holiday by getting invited to friends. We are still in construction mode. Now my niece has asked if she, her husband and their two kids (8 and 13) can sleep at our house. They are coming to town to have Thanksgiving with her Dad in another suburb. She says she gets sick whenever she stays at his house. Her Mother has warned her of our mess. Yuck.

Have a great holiday.

Marty,

I think your holiday plans sound great but I think let the women go shopping and offer to stay home with the dog. It is great to spend time with family and build those special memories but yes, it is also ok to avoid the things you know you can't do any more.

Happy Turkey Day to you.

Sue.

Marty,

I wish you and your family a terrific holiday. I too would stay away from the shopping expedition and let the women "go for it". If you are brave though or get talked into it, have fun.

well after all, as the Official Turkey Carver, it is your duty to nibble while carving so you can see if the turkey is fit for human consumption..LOL! Happy Gobble to you!*~ Shirley *~

Have a great one, Marty! Youm Mrs. Marty, the kids (ha!) :cocktail: and the dog. Hey, are you stealing the crumbs that are supposed to go on the floor for the dog? For shame!

I am one who DOES go shopping on Friday. Unfortunately my favorite place is at least 165 miles away (to the closets) but, I have some goodies here. First to Lowe's, Maybe somehow, the pointsettias I buy for my place will eventually get into the grown before they die in the pots. I just lost the last of last years.

AND< MOST IMPORTANT, I again want to thank you for teaching me how to find the car in a parking lot. I use it all the time (LOL!) and have even had people say, it's over there. You can be sure I will be hitting the panic alarm (or the lock) on the key chain.  :roflmao:
