i was on my own today, kristi was sick, but i needed to go for ride, called a friend and told her i'd call about haf way to check in. stayed in the hood, same route as last time , but would zigzag and repeat sections to get 15 miles in. i realized that my right leg is working more than the left leg--time to get out the trainer and work on that left side. shoulder didn't hurt as bad. i was tuning thecorner heading home and realized i just got a flat.. at least i could walk home. i am having trouble getting off the bike--hurts the shoulder. something else to work on, but i did15.01 miles today and averaged 11.5 mph, improvement! yeah, that's great!hoping i won't be too sore to ride tomorrow!

Kim, we have had a lot of bike riders on here so I was hoping one of them would catch your blog and say g'day. I'll just welcome you to the blog community. There are a lot of friendly people here that you will get to know through reading their blogs, it is like a small community in it's own right.

How about a blog on how you came to have the stroke in the first place, what steps you took to get where you are now etc? Seems you have made good progress if you are up to riding 15 miles. Can't think that I've ever ridden that far. My bike was solely for running errands for my mum when I was a kid though. Since I've grown up I've only been on a bike a handful of times. Still it is wonderful exercise for you.

My dad ( died 2000) was a cyclist in his youth, time trials and long distance. He also did a type of orienteering where you had to use a map and compass to find your destination. He said it filled in all those years before he had a wife and family...lol.

Good to have you here mate.

Sue.

Welcome to the blog community Kim and way to go for your 15 miles. There are cyclists here, but I'm definitely not one of them - not pre even. Growing up I never learned to ride a bike as my mother forbid it saying I would get hurt - yep she is an anal type of person.

my bike riding came during post-stroke out patient therapy. Look forward to getting to know you better.

hey Kim:

welcome to wonderful world of blogging. I can see you are quite far ahead in your recovery biking for 15 miles wow. I used to bike a lot when I was child now I can bike only stationary bike and that is also big achievement, initially my left feet would not even sty on pedal. atleast now it stays. so I can still bike my stationary bike for 10 miles.

Welcome to blog world. Congrats on the cycling! I'll hang with Donna and offer encouragement and cool drinks from the sidelines.
