SUMMER UPDATE........NO DRAMA

WOW! IT HAS BEEN MONTHS ...LITERALLY......SINCE I BLOGGED. I MANAGED TO GET A YEAR OLDER.....I HAD A NICE BIRTHDAY IN JUNE. I SPENT MOST OF JULY SICK WHICH INCLUDED TWO TRIPS TO THE ER AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY ALL THAT IS BEHIND ME NOW. :D

IT HAS BEEN A QUIET SUMMER AT OUR HOUSE. WE PLANTED SOME VEGGIES IN BIG BUCKETS ON OUR PATIO AND HAVE BEEN ENJOYING TOMATOES, CUKES AND SQUASH. IT IS SO GREAT TO HAVE A TOMATOE THAT TASTES LIKE IT SHOULD AND NOT CARDBOARD.

OUR BIRDS HAVE BEEN A REAL SOURCE OF PLEASURE FOR ME WITH HUMMERS, CARDINALS, TITMICE, FINCHES AND SUCH. OUR DOG SASHA HAS MADE IT HER LIFE'S PURPOSE TO KEEP SQUIRRELS AWAY FROM THE FEEDERS. SHE TAKES HER JOB DESCRIPTION SERIOUSLY AND IS DOING A GREAT JOB. :Clap-Hands:

i DID MY FIRST BIT OF FLOWER GARDENING SINCE I STROKED AND HAVE ENJOYED CARING FOR WHAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER PLANTED. WE HAVE TO KEEP OUR EYES OPEN BECAUSE A FAMILY OF DEER LIVE IN THE WOODS AND FIND EVERTHING PLANTED AROUND THE CONDOS TASTY DELIGHTS. :licklips:

AS MANY OF YOU KNOW, MY SISTER GOT HER RN THIS MONTH....AT AGE 53. :doctor: I AM SO TOTALLY PROUD OF HER! SHE WAS BY MY SIDE FOR THE FIRST THREE MONTHS AFTER MY STROKE AND BECAUSE SHE WAS A LPN I GOT SPRUNG FROM REHAB EARLIER THAN EXPECTED. SHE DID ALL THE MAINTENANCE AND CHANGING OF MY PIK LINE. SO ANYHOW, SHE IS COMING OUT FOR A WEEK IN SEPTEMBER AND BRINGING MY MOM...WHO JUST TURNED 8O. THE PLAN IS TO DO GIRL STUFF LIKE FACIALS AND NAILS AND SHOP A BIT AND, MORE THAN LIKELY DRINK A FEW MARGARITAS! :cocktail: :cocktail: :cocktail: ( I WILL ONLY NEED TO SMELL ONE AND I WILL BE GIDDY.

THE OTHER BIG EVENT IS MY HUSBAND HAS A 2 WEEK TRIP PLANNED LATER IN SEPTEMBER AND I WILL BE ON MY OWN. I AM A BIT NERVOUS BUT I KNOW I CAN DO THIS....I JUST NEED TO PACE MYSELF AND ASK FOR HELP IF I NEED IT. I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED I WOULD BE SO SANGUINE ABOUT STAYING BY MYSELF. :Nodding:

THAT IS ABOUT IT FOR ME. SEPTEMBER 16TH WILL MARK MY THIRD STROKE ANNIVERSARY. I KNOW SO MANY PEOPLE TOLD ME TIME WOULD HELP.....AND THEY WERE RIGHT. STROKE WAS NOT ON MY LIFE'S AGENDA AND YEP, IT SUCKS BIG TIME........I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MY OLD LIFE BACK BUT I REALIZE THAT IS NOT IN THE CARDS, SO FOR THE MOST PART I FIND I AM CONTENT.

AND THAT IS IT........WISHING EVERYONE THE BEST. KATHY

Good for you, Kathy. It is good to get on with our lives since we can't change what happened. And isn't it nice to be able to enjoy nature.

We're eating tomatoes from our garden and they are yummy.

hey Kathy:

good to see your update after long time you have been busy this summer going to ER & all, hope nothing serious and everything is under control. I learnt the same thing as time passes you learn that these are cards you are dealt with & you better make best out of these cards, by playing hand well such that there are no regrets.

Kathy, you have come a long way from that traumatic post-stroke period. I know from Ray's recoveries that it is a lot of hard work that makes it happen so kudos to you.

Your bucket garden sounds great, I am doing more of that mainly herbs and this years spinach so next year the garden will be on the back patio and woe to any pest that feel like eating the plants before I do!

Congratulations on your independence, enjoy your girl time with you sis and your mom.

Kathy,

You've come along way in almost 3 years. No, we can't go back to our pre-stroke days but you're proof once again that life can and does go on after stroke. Enjoy your bucket garden. What a cool idea. Are you going to get a salt-lick for the deer come winter?

Way to go girl..... glad the ER trips are checked out... and belated Happy Birthday.

I remember the first time John went on a trip... for his daughter's college graduation in January and the day he left it snowed....LOL I had people to call on if needed, but I did great on my own... even taking care of the animals.. and had quite a sense of accomplishment having done it.. ( BIG SMILE here)....

Congrats to your sister... I ent back to school in my early 40's have a great girl time

WOWEY...you have done a lot this summer. Congratulations on your earned accomplishments. The gardening is great and I love the fact that you have deer around (no deer in Tucson..but there are some in our mountains). I hope trips to ER are OVER. I know you will enjoy the visit with you sister and mom. My mother died at 91 the year before my stroke and I will always cherish the days and visits we had. Since she was in Tucson it was especially a lot the last few years as her health went downhill. God saw it that I didn't stroke until after she was gone. I do think God moves in mysterious ways.

Three years - amazing - I'm a little over 2 so you give me a LOT of hope and courage with your experience. Thank you for all you do on this site. Now I have got to get with the program and update my blog too!!

Happy Birthday :wish: and Hugs :mwah: Leah
