hey Sherri: I hope you are feeling better. Congratulations on buying house & also doing all exercises. Asha

hey Ken: I have tried walkaid & it does help though it has to be adjusted in the begining & everytime you walk it sends stimulus to your nerve & you get heel strike. there is bioness device which is similar too. I know few people here on strokenet have als done surgery to correct the problem. just hang in there till the help arrives Asha

hey cindy: welcome to our wonderful blog world community. stroke recovery journey is slow & long process & every stroke is different from others. Though things come back in leaps & bounds first few years than it slows down to snails's pace. Important thing in the begining is to get as much therapy as much possible & try to get maximum out of your recovery. Try to be as independent as you can be. I know in the begining whole family rallies up, but later on it will be only very close family & you. so try to be as independent as possible. I too was paralysed on my left side though I worked very hard to get out of wheelchair & my independence. I have come quite far in my recovery. I walk everywhere without any assistance, I still can't use my left hand yet but that has not made me stop living my life to fullest. Asha

Karen: please don't read too much into your family's actions when you are in foul mood. I have been guilty of telling my mom to not to make scene of crying infront of others & she is not stroke patient. but others don't know why you are crying & will think worst thing about your family & you want to avoid that. I hope you understand your daughter's point of view. BTW no two strokes are alike lot don't make it & some stay in wheelchair for rest of their life. But we have survived & we have to make lemons out of our lemonade. I feel acceptance is daily thing. you have to work hard towards accepting new you. tomorrow is another day & this shall pass too.
