  1. You have raised a compassionate caring young lady. A duplicate of yourself. You must be a very proud parent. I envy you. Give her a big hug from all of us here. We are all proud of her also. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean :cocktail:

  2. Bill, Great to here an update from you. But, sorry Bud is having dental problems.

That special person will come into your life soon, just hasn't been the right time or place yet. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean :cocktail:

  3. Your right about routine is the key. My suggestion is you need to demand routine by your caregivers, politely.

My husband has aphasia from his stroke. I have to make a plan with him, and do it the way we discussed the plan. I cant decide to take a detour. that makes him mad, confused and flustered. So I feel for you but just plan with him included and follow the plan. pm me is you want to talk some more. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean:cocktail:

  4. Ruth and William Happy Easter.

Starting the day out being embraced with the Lords words is beautiful.

William might of gotten up extra early but I look at it this way, William can and is still able to get excited about going to church.

The plant you are starting is a beautiful flower. Do Hawaiians use them for lays?

I have a night in cereus blooming. It blooms one a year after having it for 5 years. blooms only at night, and the flower dies by morning light. The flower has a real strong perfume smell. I am still looking for a cutting from someone.

You have been blessed with taking so good care with William. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebea

  5. Tori is one lucky kid to have a gem of a grandma like you.:cheer:

And you are fortunate to have a granddaughter so polite. at

the age of 9. You and Ray must of done something right

    raising your kids. :You-Rock:

You and Ray are one hell of a team. But, Carl pulls the same

tricks on me and he doesn't have dementia.

The patience you have with Ray is remarkable. You have some

    fancy steps their lady:happydance: .

I agree with Juli, your a super duper grandma. As for Tori, she has

come away with allot of memories of her grandparents.

  6. Ruth, I agree with all the comments you received. Now, speaking from being a survivor and not totally finished with rehab myself, then being the caregiver.

Carl really didn't encourage me in my rehab until he stroked.

Now he understands what I was battling. Emotions, rehab, incontinence s, Pt, OT. But Carl did stay by my side threw it all.

Carl ended up with Aphasia as his deficit. He needs lots of encouragement. Carl was the talker in our family before. I was the listener and had to turn into the talker. (I don't like it to this day).

I encourage Carl to start conversations were ever we go. He rather I do the talking but, I stay out of it. I too have to get Carl to go to the Y and do water aerobatics classes. Carl too gets grouchy. Carl is able to drive and usually goes grocery shopping his self. Carl always did the cooking in the house and still does, with is sharing the preparation. So Carl has self worth.

I on the other hand, was not able to get out by myself for two years after my stroke. I ended up with depth perception, their for I only drive around town. I lastly have the feeling of Independence now.

Ruth did William have any hobbies pre-stroke? Using physiology with William, suggest in a round about way.

Ruth the dog gig was and is such a good idea. Maybe that will be Williams more independent time. Kudos to William. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean

But in the end all is forgiven.

  7. Oh Lydia, You could compare the old Lydia to the new Lydia from hear till doomsday.

Sally Jessy Raphael wrote a book about grief after her son is in 2 car accidents left with brain damage. Her one of 2 daughters dies of an overdose of booze and sleeping pills. I found the book to be very eye opening.

To move on in your life it is advised that you leave go of the pass and embrace the present. It's easier said than done but, I have embraced the present and moved on with my life and new adventures. remembertolaugh, jeanniebean

  8. Debbie, I'm sorry to hear of your triple whammy. My prayers our for your misfortune. Sounds like Bruce is doing his best with you. As for the caretakers you were right to have a talk with them. The caretakers you have don't have the patience for it's not their loved one. Some caregivers have it and some don't.Some people have an upside down view of love vs dislike (hate).Sounds like all of yours don't.

Suggestion for you to tell Bruce. Kill'em with kindness. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean:cocktail:

  9. You go girl. Taking a mini vacation to visit a friend all by yourself. You've given me and idea to take a bus up to Ohio and visit my friends and family. I am unable to drive long distances, and go by myself. I also have depth-perception. As for your OT/PT. Your being paranoid.Ok it's bothering you, I understand but the situation is coming from the ego eyes. You are a child of God. You have vision - mind. Look at those people you described as monkeys. Give yourself a good laugh, and have all the monkeys wondering what you are laughing about. remembertolaugh, Jeanniebean

  10. What a lovely letter to write your friend. All so true.

I was unaware of this phenomenon, Thank you for sharing.

I was in a meditation one day after my stroke when it was presented to me. Your eyes are not Gods eyes, they are egos eyes. Gods eyes are in your mind, which is called your visions. God gave me the vision, if I continue to have faith in Him I will once again to have reconnection in my brain.

  11. Jeannie:

I am so happy that you are planning to join our book club & give it a shot.& also teach crochet at Y, wow that's amazing can person with just 1 hand can crochet too? having so many other interests help person not go in despair, I know I did it when I was without my job

    Asha

Thank you Asha. As we spoke in chat Wednesday night I will try to figure a way to crochet with one good hand, when the other is balled up. I think it's possible if the other hands arm can move up and down from your leg. I'll work on it.

  12. Jeannie, you are such a go getter, you have so much patience and so much to give to others. I hope you form a group of people happy to learn to crochet and able to have a chat or a laugh and form friendships that will last.

    Sue.

Thank you Sue. It's not patience it's therapy for my hands and fingers. Friendships with others is one thing I have been missing ever since I stroked in 2001 and had to stop working..

  13. date='08 April 2011 - 09:50 PM'] No ma'am, this is a series of 3 shots per knee. It's probably not the same name stuff as you are getting but it's only every 6 months you can get these shots.

I had the silicone shots too in each knee. That's why now, if this doesn't work, my next move is replacements in both knees.

Oh! now I understand. I will pray for you, keep the positive attitude.

My shots are suppose to be replacing my natural joint fluid.

  14. Lavenac, It is nice that your love of your life (for now) called you and made your day. But don't discredit you parents. You only have two and appreciate them your young and you may not understand what I just said but just don't discount

your parents attention or noisiest in your business.

Your in my prayers for you teaching job. good luck.

    remembertolaugh, jeannie :cocktail:

  15. Fred good for you. Are you not getting 5 in each knee? My good knee needed the shot first after

two more shots I'm going to start the shots on my right. Both knees will get 5 shots. These are working. I'm exercising using my knees and I'm not in pain at all. Hallelujah:happydance:!

I'm getting those shots from my arthritis doctor. I had my second one Tuesday, the third one is next Tuesday.

Then I change to my left knee for my first shot the next Tuesday week, then two more to see if that will hold me for a few months!

If I'm still in pain my next stop is our big hospital for replacements on both knees. I decided to do it, what the hell! Maybe then I can walk without a cane. May not need my scooter either! :yadayada:

GOOD LUCK ON BOTH YOUR KNEES TOO!
