  1. Here in Durban we don't often get big names performing so when one does come to town, I'm the first to book tickets. Well, Robbie Williams was in town last night and I dragged Greg and another couple to the show. I didn't realise that the seats I had booked were right at the top of the rugby stadium. So up we trudge and up and up and up!!!!! Anyway, we got to our seats and back down again after the show without any mishaps. We took longer than everyone else but who cares? I did it!!!! :bouncing_off_wall: I really enjoyed his show and the fact that he is really good looking helped as well!!! Yes I know I'm newly married but a girl can look can't she?Anyway, the point of this is that I got to the top of the stadium and back down again.
  2. Amy, I've been invited to a passion party on 6th May and I'm really looking forward to it. With loads of wine and snacks it should be a scream!!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!!
  3. My OT asked me this morning what exercises do I do at home? I started giggling because all my home exercises are "made up". For example, when I'm in the bath, I reach for the shampoo or at least I try to! Then once out the bath, I practise balancing on one leg paying special attention to not letting my knee conk in!!! As you can tell I have ABSOLUTELY nothing exciting to blog about!!!

    Cricket

Last Fri we went to support SA playing Australia - which was great except we lost !!!! Sue - I was wearing a green hat along with 20 000 other SA supporters, so I didn't stand out in the crowd!!!!

    1st year tomorrow

Wednesday is my 1st Anniversary. I'm feeling a bit weird, can't explain it, this time last year (7th) I was having a ball with my sister planning what to do on her birthday (8th) and funnily enough ICU was not one of the things on our list!!!! Happy Birthday for tomorrow Sis, hope you have a better day than last year. Damn - now I'm crying (not a good thing to do at work).

    Irritated with OT

I have a lovely OT and usually our sessions are quite productive, but this morning I got quite irritated. She was trying to get me to flick my fingers and move a balloon. Well - if I could flick my damn fingers, I wouldn't be sitting opposite her would I?
  7. I don't want to worry you, but I stroked during my period, and every month I do have that in the back of my mind. I would also speak to a doctor, better be safe than sorry.

    Go baby finger, go!!!

It's moving - my baby finger is actually moving!!! :happydance: Now for the next four fingers to join in.....
  9. Dear Sue Don't be so hard on yourself, I think you and all caregivers are saints, I certainly wouldn't have the strength to do what you all do. I know that when on holiday, Greg worked just as hard as he does at home, making sure I was ok. I'm sure Ray appreciates everything that you do.
  10. Everything is such an effort these days, I'm getting really bummed with this constant exhaustion that follows me everywhere. I really don't know how the people with kids manage to cope so well, just the thought of having a baby is exhausting! So yes, I'm sick and tired of being tired all the time, obviously it's one of "those" days!.

    Back from honeymoon

Well, I'm back at work and normal routine Mauritius was absolutely fantastic, one week was not long enough though. The only thing I found I battled with was exhaustion, I only watched the evening show once I was also extremely concious of my walking, but I still did lots of fun things, like para-gliding and snorkelling, which was great. :happydance: So, it's back to therapy, therapy, therapy!!!!

    I'm married!

On Sat 21 Jan, I had my big day and it was fantastic. Everything went according to plan, even the weather played along. The only change I made was to go shoe-less, I wasn't confident enough to wear the shoes I had taken along, so I went barefoot, and as it was a country wedding, no-one looked twice. I have never received as many compliments as I did on Sat and it was great! Lots of champagne was consumed by all and everyone had a great time. :cocktail:
  13. Congratulations to my on-line friend, what fantastic news. Happy holidays to you and the family.

    three days of freedom

Sue, enjoy your time alone, there is nothing better than doing what YOU want to do. Sounds like Ray is in good hands so you mustn't worry about him. A change is as good as a holiday, so the change of scenery will probably do him as much good as the peace and quiet does you. Take care. xxx

    Dressing up & heels

Pam, I read your comment to my blog and can tell you when I got home after rehab, I also sat in front of my shoes and sobbed my heart out. Then I tortured myself further by putting on the shoe on my good foot and looked in the mirror. That was a sad day. But I have to walk in nice shoes, I have 2 months till my wedding day and there is no way I am wearing trainers with my dress. NO WAY, so, I have 2 months to practise. Good luck for when you are confident enough to change shoes.

    The First Weekend

Butch, I can quote Asha's reply, my fiance Greg was a nervous wreck when I came home and would also get up through the night when I needed the bathroom, but that has worn off now. Bathing was also a story, Greg would "throw" me in the bath and "haul" me out again - not very gracefully either! but that has also gotten better, I can now bath myself. Things have a way of working themselves out, you will soon get into a comfortable routine. Glad she is home though, good luck to you both.

    Pity Party For One

Dear Susan I am definately not an expert at all this, being only 7 months post stroke but I know for myself when I am exhausted I start to feel very sorry for myself and get very weepy. All I do is take a day off work and sleep it off and then I feel much stronger. In hindsight I realise I have come back to work far too soon and haven't had enough rest. It sounds to me like you have got far too much on your plate, slow down and take some "me" time.

    Check Up

Bonnie, I had a colonoscopy about 3 years ago and it wasn't that bad! I found the worst for me was the stuff I had to drink the night before to "clean me out" I had to drink litres of this awful tasting stuff and couldn't finish the prescribed amount I had to drink but the actual procedure wasn't that bad. Good luck.
