    Balance issues

Nope stroke is not ever fair - look at this as a goal to achieve - don't let "it" win. You can do it.
  3. Congrats to you on your 2 year anniversary AND on the birth of your son - WhoooooHooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You beat and are continuing to beat that beast called stroke. So glad to hear all is going well!!!

    First One

Hi Sheryl and welcome to the blog community. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is quite heartwarming. Their enthusiasm and curiosity keeps us going when the times are tough that's for sure. Henry is at that age too where he is learning and curious about all around him. You've got the right attitude towards stroke - ya can't let it win out - never ever. On bad days, know that you can vent and we'll understand as we've all been there at some point.
  5. Sue, Definitely my thoughts and prayers remain with your Mum. I hope while you and Ray are in Cairns they do not take upon themselves to retrain her. Quite honestly, it does not surprise me that your Mum walked on her own. As you are her daughter and full of spunk, I knew she'd do it.
  6. Fred, Please accept my condolences on the loss of your friend. I'm so glad that you were able to be with him in his final moments. Fred, you do not blog often but when you do, your entries are quite profound. I'm sure your friend is smiling down on you. (((hugs)))
  7. Sue, Loving thoughts and prayers to you and to your Mum. Your Mum's tender and loving gesture with Trevor touched my heart. I pray your Mum gets loving care there and is well cared for and treated with dignity.
  8. Hiya Bon, You've been quite the busy beaver with all your landscaping work. Ain't it just like a guy to say you hurt your finger just so you didn't have to help lift the blocks LOL. You wouldn't do that
  9. Patty, Great first entry. I too hope that all will be easier for you as time goes on. Keeping a positive attitude at times is rough; of course we all tend to plop on that darn pity pot - whining and venting. But that's we're all here, we understand what each of us is going through. It helps to know that we're not alone in this. We're all here for each other walking side by side to keep strong agaiinst stroke beating us.
  10. Jean, It was great to read your update though so sorry to hear you're having back problems. I hope you are on the mend and there will no further problems. Good to hear that Don and Levi are doing well.
  11. Yolie, Your lil girl is growing up losing her first tooth. I bet the bowling is precious to watch.

    Busy summer

Katrina, My condolences on the loss of your friend and congrats on being an Auntie yourself again. I'm glad to hear all is going well for you this summer. You will be a great freshman leader - I feel it in my heart. Another accomplishment for our sweet sweet gal. One way to look at the taxes, you'll have a good return next year at tax filing time. Keep enjoying your summer.
  13. Jeannie, Good for you gal and congrats on the weight loss.
  14. Lisa, Welcome to our blog community. Congrats to you and Ralph for reaching the one year mark in stroke recovery. The first year is the toughest and you and Ralph have reached that milestone together. Bless you both and here's to many more years and continued improvements.
  15. Home grown tomatoes and peppers - yummy. You go gal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Sue, My thoughts and prayers continue for your Mum's recovery as well as for you and Ray. Yes your road has some muddy spots but you find ways around hose spots. God Bless you for all you do.
  17. Congratulations to you Stu on reaching your 3 year mark and your milestones in recovery. Added congrats to you and Kath on your weight loss program. You will need a new name on site - "Stud" You are proving there IS life after stroke - way to go and here's to many many more anniversaries and milestones
  18. In less than 24 hours, my alone time will come to an end. The time has been relaxing. I've had a few things happen that shook me up but overall all is well. I managed to care for myself and the furbabies with no problems. Today I received a text message from Kristi in which she said she missed me as much as a fat kid misses chocolate cake
  19. Hi Gladice, Your new residence sounds beautiful. And to have an apartment with such a nice view too - how super for you. My Grandma had lived in a senior high rise and loved it with all the activities going on all the time. I bet you will be retiring your cane before too long. Good for you. I too look forward to seeing pictures.
  20. Bob, Great news - I bet you and your wife are beyond thrilled at this point. Congrats to you and best of luck on the road.

    Got me a cane

Fred is right Diana, be sure the height is right for you. When walking outside of home I use a hemi-walker. I'd like to graduate to a cane at some point.
  22. Diana, Hope the day is perfect in every way

    Milestones

Karen What a beautiful concept behind the planting of your willow tree. My Dad as well did the belt thing - then it was corrective parenting LOL. I as well turned ok (maybe LOL) which is something that still confuses my Auntie (Dad's sister)
  24. Enjoy every minute of your time away.
  25. Hi gang, Since yesterday (Tuesday 6-16) and until the evening of Tuesday (6-23) I will be home alone - well with the exception of Crystal and Lili as Kristi flew to AZ yesterday for a week to reunite with old friends. Quite honestly I was glad for her to go as the atmosphere here has not been a pleasant one of late. School for her has finished for the year - unofficially, until grades come in, she's now a high school senior. Now my dear child "thinks" she should be able to come and go as she pleases - NOT!!!! The stress level here for me has been through the roof. It's amazing how much more I'm relaxed just in the short time she's been gone. I sincerely pray that her return home brings a rejuvenation of my "nice" and loving daughter. Since my last blog entry, a month ago today  , I have been cruisin around in my power chair. I went to the school orchestra and band concert on June 2nd and have cruised to the grocery store, and even went to my brother's house to cool down during one frustrating evening. I was gone for 2 hours so I did calm down - only draw back was that I was cruisin after dark and my chair does not have headlights. Maybe I need to buy a miner's hat with light on it LOL. Then I'd be stylin huh LOL
