Glad you had a quite day Sue, i think we all agree that life is getting too fast and people are just not taking the time to smell the roses and enjoy life.
i wish i had taken more time and slowed down.

Hi Sue
Sorry to hear that the outing was so disappointing, maybe it's time for the organisers have a good think when planning these outings what access the venue has and is it wheelchair friendly. I have found that the majorty of people don't realise how hard it is for people in wheelchairs.
I love going to watch my children play soccer but have found only 1 ground has wheelchair friendly toilets and other facilities and most of the large shopping malls don't have many disalbled facilities.
I hate sitting outside shops because there is no access.

I did bowl before i got married, then i moved house and got busy doing other things. On reflection i should have taken it up again instead of trying to be young again and keeping up with the kids. but it is somethink i can aim fore as i won't be playing soccer again.

I really miss not being able to go to the gym, as my gym is at the top of a long fight of stairs, but i will one day climb those stairs again, do a few miles on the bike, beat my old times and distances on the Rower and cross trainer then get stuck into the weights. it may be only a dream at the moment but i will do it as i don't want to go through the next 20-30 years in a wheelchair.
-
Fingers crossed that the doctors will be able to do the operation and get Ray back on his feet. we are all thinking of you and Ray, stay strong

Hi Sue
Sorry to hear about Ray, please give him our best wishes. It is my greatest fear hence i still rely on the wheelchair. i can walk ok when Kathy is walking behind me but shuffle along byself. We hope he gets better soon.

Glad you had a great day Sue, we had an extremely quite day with no visitors, no arguments, good food and plenty of peace and quite.

Thanks,
Like anything unless you try you will never no. We have 2 specialised water therpy pools near me and they are both heated, ever if i have to buy or hire a waterski type vest to keep me upright till i'm stronger. so i will invetigate it further as when my wife was working for school that had special needs kids and they loved the water and it was very benificial. I'm glad i have a very stubbon streak and refuse to give up.

Hi Sue
Like you spring can't come quick enough, as usual the rain is falling mainly on the coast, i feel the cold more since having the stroke, my affected leg feels like an iceberg, but the rest of the body is warm. have you tried mixing in some cement dust into your driveway gravel then gently hose the drive down it my just bind the gravel. also ask the people were you get the gravel from if the sell crushed concrete in lieu of gravel.
take care and give Ray my regards.

Thanks Kim
i'm feeling a lot better now, i think it was one of those down days, my main aim now is to get on top of the stroke and prove all the so called experts wrong. i still can't get a reasonable explaination as to wot went wrong, i will keep fighting an win
cheers Ken
KEN,
STAYING POSITIVE IS OFTEN TIMES DIFFICULT **EVEN** WHEN WE WERE "NORMAL***. IT'S JUST THAT MUCH TOUGHER NOW THAT WE HAVE MORE OBSTACLES TO CONQUER.
THINGS THAT UPSET YOU ARE NOT "LITTLE" IN MY EYES. THEY ARE LEGITIMATE WORRIES THAT YOU FACE, DEAL WITH, AND MOVE ON AND UP WHEN YOU CAN. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, YOU STROKED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, LIKE I DID. THAT TWO YEAR MARK IS A TOUGH ONE, FOR ME ANYWAY, BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN THE "EXPERTS" TOLD ME THAT WILL PROBABLY BE THE TIMELINE WHEN I AM AS "GOOD" AS I EVER GET.
*****HOGWASH***** I AM 2 YEARS, 4+ MONTHS POST STROKE NOW, AND HAVE ALREADY IMPROVED SINCE THE TWO YEAR MARK. I KNOW OF MANY OTHERS WHO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AFTER YEARS AND YEARS. THEY PUT THAT "NUMBER" IN MY HEAD, AND FOR AWHILE I FELT I HAD TO STICK WITH IT, BUT SOMETHING INSIDE ME WOULDN'T LET ME GIVE UP. I'M GLAD I DIDN'T LISTEN.
YOU DON'T GIVE UP EITHER, YOU HEAR? KEEP DOING EVERYTHING WITHIN YOUR POWER TO DIG DEEPER WITHIN YOURSELF AND FIND A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN GROW AND GET BETTER AND BETTER. I SENSE THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD HAVE DONE PRE STROKE ANYWAY. WHY SHOULD NOW BE ANY DIFFERENT?
I WILL BE THINKING ABOUT YOU FRIEND
