  2. Happy Anniversary The Kiwi Bird.!

  3. :Clap-Hands: Yeh, the snow is gone and we have sunshine. I have my first crocus bulbs out,3infact. A yellow, white and purple.George and I have been out doing some gardening, and Thurs will find me digging the Vege garden and putting in some manure, to let it settle for a couple of weeks. The birds are beginning to nest and we fixed our bird house today put and extended perch out front for them. I finished my w/end nights and our new car is doing fine. I feel like the Queen driving down the Gunflint trail at 45mph to work.George says I look cute when I come home in the morn sitting there in my new car and red coat. It has plenty of room and I do like the way the doors open 82 degrees. This is easy for George to get in and out and me too for that matter. We bought an '07 Honda CRV -EX. It has all the bells and whistles on.Now I do not need to push George in to our vehicle. I had to for him to get into our Dodge truck we sold. I made some preserved orange peel yesterday and now I can use it in baking on the odd occassion. It smelt so good in the pot on the stove.I like to make cranberry and orange scones for us to have with a cup of tea.Thurs I have a friend coming over to share a movie with us and I will make Chillie. Then we will have a scone.YumYum. We go to Thunder Bay Canada tomorrow for George's therapy. This is a new sort for him and it is called Active Release Therapy. He found it on the internet and has done his research so here goes. I guess he will report at a later time on the progress. We will also do some grocery shopping,(George doesn't know this yet) Ha Ha Boy is he in for a thrill Ha.Just what he loves, pushing a cart around the store. Jasmine, our 17lb Bichon dog will come to, I have all her shots current, and letter to this effect and our passports ready. :cheer: Must away now until next time.George finally carried his canoe today and he has Blogged if you are interested, also he attached 2 photos I took while he was doing the task." Way To Go George." Kia Ora The Kiwi Bird
  4. I want to thank the people who have welcomed me to the Bloging world..We went to Duluth yesterday and George had more OT. It is nice as we have lunch beforehand. I also Bought two new pairs of Nursing shoes. They are the walking athletic shoes one with a heal, one without. As I am on my feet for 12hrs at a time,my shoes are important. The therapy went well and the strength in George's left hand is improving. Yipee. For me it is very pleasing to see his progress and I am full of encouragment. I was asked by someone on the blog if George is like Tim the tool man Taylor. Well yes he is but the difference is that when George does something the project always works, nothing blows up and the gadget works like it is suppose to. It helps to have a handyman in the house. The tasks take longer now and I have to help him but we get the job done. This weekend I am working Fri, Sat, Sun Nights 7pm-7am. As we still have snow on Lutsen Mtn we most likely will have ski accidents from the field. Then there is the chestpains, pneumonia, flu, and the occassional Babe delivered etc as well as the inpatients,so we are kept busy. It means I have to sleep during the day. This is ok as George does his Blogging, excersises, eating, reading and talking on the phone. Today is beautiful, sunny and 44 deg F. In fact I have just fed the birds, walked the dog and opened up our front door plus the screens on the storm door. The fresh air is streaming through and the sun beaming in. So cool. Yeh the start of Spring is here. George is doing his Saeboflex excersises with puff balls supplied and we are listening to some delightful soft music. The birds are singing, sun shinning and the air smells so good. Life is good to us. We Try to dwell on the positive as you can tell. Some days it is not easy but we regroup when the going gets tough, take a deep breath, and then move on. I would like to post a little smilie on this but have not figured out how to do it and George has not got off his lazy butt to help me out,Ha Ha He is too busy with Rehab. Can anyone help me how to do it.????? We saw some interesting foot prints in the snow this am took pictures and we think it may have been a Canadian Lynx on the land. Not sure and we are having a Biologist friend coming over to look. Well must away and prepare lunch before I catch a nap. Kia Ora for today from Lesley,The Kiwi Bird.
  5. Today I am on my own and not piggy backing on my husband the Gizmo Gadget Guy. I was encouraged buy the moderators to do a blog of my own so here I am. You can learn about me by reading my Bio. I will post a pic later but at the moment I am on. Today I intend to cook up Taco meat and make up the fixings then take these to a friend and her family for dinner tonight. My friend has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a Mastectomy this week.So I am trying to help out as best I can. I will most likely not post each day as I work 3 x12 hr shifts of nights Fri,Sat,Sun 7pm to 7am.These work fine for us at present as it enables me to drive George to Duluth 2 1/2 hrs away, twice a week for his OT/PT therapy. Also just the general running of a household and caring for George takes my time.I have added tasks now as you can imagine. For instance yesterday I had to shovel snow around our mailbox,at the end of our 800ft driveway. We had 4inches of snow. Our Dog Jassie came with me and had a ball playing in the snow while I worked. December 8th 2006 turned our lives 360 degrees. This is the day George my husband was told by the ER Doc that he had had an Ischemic stroke. I will go into my feelings about our changed lifestyle over a period of postings but today I just wanted to say Hi to all the readers wether you be a surviour or care giver. I am glad we have this forum to post and communicate. I know it helps our household as a support system, and we all need this. I encourage you to read my profile . More later from me.Keep on keeping on. Kia Ora.(means greetings) From Lesley The Kiwi Bird.
